Short Description:

This game was part of GMTK Game Jam 2020. Game Jam theme was “Out of Control“.

Descriptive Detail

As our team did not have any experience with the Godot engine previously, we decided to implement the first game mechanics that came to our mind.

The idea was to change player control after getting into a new room. To make the game interactive for players, the team has added enemies (which is a result were overpowered), bonuses and even 1 secret location. We decided to implement bonuses as food, after some thinking we stopped on shawarma as our choice.

Secret Passage

After getting other assets and doing some scripting, the team started to create levels. Also, we decided to create the secret passage, where a special “bonus” may be found. After creating 3 levels, play-tested the game and started working on UI. To make the game a little less confusing, we added a guide level with some instructions for players.

The main UI was not complex, so we implemented it quite quickly. After that added the main menu and after-game subtitles.

After checking other submissions, it appeared that our idea was a common one. Also, after playing the game now, I feel bored, confused because of broken control and fury because of bad balance. Even so, I’m still happy I was able to create something with my friend and still have fun!
